PhytoCare Interview Transcription:

Ann Hess:
Hello everyone. I’m Ann Hess and we are coming to you from the Feedstuffs news desk at World Dairy Expo in Madison, Wisconsin. You know, natural products for gut health and skin care and dairy. Small ruminants, swine and poultry continue to gain acceptance from veterinarians and producers. Backed by research plus years of experience, the field of offerings just continues to grow. One Minnesota based company, Precision Health Technologies, is launching a new line of products under its PhytoCare brand, specifically designed for use in large and small ruminants. We’re here talking with Robert Tims, Precision Health Technologies manager of sales and business development, about the positive impact of naturally derived polyphenols. Welcome, Bob.

Bob Tims:
Thank you. Glad to be here and it’s super exciting to be introducing our products specially formulated for ruminants.

Ann Hess:
Absolutely. We’ve talked to you at a few other shows before. Yes. Well, why don’t you walk us through how polyphenols work in ruminants. Yeah.

Bob Tims:
So polyphenols are kind of nature’s natural healing. So whether it’s blades of grass but there’s there’s a lot of research out there that talk about polyphenols. Um, have some reported anti-bacterialstatic bacterialcidal properties, but they also promote healing. And so just imagine if you have products that are being presented to the epithelial cells throughout the gut. And I’m going to tell you also about skin after a little bit. But if those polyphenols are absorbing into the the epithelial cells we talk about cellular hydration. So it’s exciting. We can promote health with plant based products.

Ann Hess:
So let’s talk specifically about gut health. How does improving gut health, um translate to a positive return on investment.

Bob Tims:
So it’s really about the health of the animal. So now imagine if you have a healthy calf over its lifetime, let’s say five lactations. It’s going to produce hundreds of pounds more of milk than if it wasn’t, if it had challenges as a calf. So that early promotion of natural health to those calves are critical for the maximum production.

Ann Hess:
So you’ve got a full display here. So tell us about the products you’re launching at World Dairy Expo this week.

Bob Tims:
Thank you very much. So we’re excited. So our history has been on liquid products. So for example we have liquid products that you could put four ounces of our ruminant concentrate in like 40 gallons of milk replacer. Very easy for the producer to incorporate into their process. And they can give that to them for those first three days upon arrival and then once a week thereafter. But also at the show, we’re introducing paste products. So we have taken the best paste products and incorporated our plant extracts into those. So we go from white to red, kind of color coded. And it’s really, you know, I can talk about the product names, but the color coding helps their producer think, ah, so the white is extending the colostrum right. For that baby calf. Give it to it for three days. The blue is when you’re noticing your animal is feeling blue. Right. Just it’s just something’s not right. Give it a bio life for three days. The yellow there’s some warning flags. There’s things are going wrong. And so give it the GI care. The last one is GI revive. It’s when those red warning flags are going off. So really easy to make. Make the correlation. And again give ten cc’s for every 100 pound calf. Now. I have to say, we’re all natural, so Ann we can’t make any claims, we can say that we’re a great alternative when you’re trying to minimize antibiotics or trying to produce products without antibiotics. That’s where these plant based products come in.

Ann Hess:
I love the color coding. I wish our our own medications and products came for us so we could figure out when we’re blue and what we need. Um, so for producers here and at home, you know, where should they go to find more information about Precision Health Technologies and the PhytoCare products?

Bob Tims:
So with our new ruminant products, just go to PhytoCare.Us, or you can go to PrecisionHealthTechnologies.com. But that’s harder to write down and type in. In there we have our distributors from the AHI, the QC Supply, the Hubbard Feeds. Um, but also you can get all the information right there in the website.

Ann Hess:
Any final thoughts you’d like to leave our audience from Precision Health Technologies?

Bob Tims:
Well, we’re recording this at World Dairy Expo and the interactions that I’ve had, and I’m going to call it affirmations from European producers. They get it. They’ve been producing without antibiotics for a long time, and they’re coming by and they’re excited about what we’re doing with PhytoCare, with, you know, plant based products. And for those people that want to try it, you know, it’s important for us to learn these alternative ideas for growing our animals without antibiotics.

Ann Hess:
Be a good point to end on. Bob Tims, Precision Health Technologies, thank you so much for joining us today.

Bob Tims:
Thank you Ann, it’s been a pleasure.
